8 Inch Laptops: Information on 8 Inch Laptop Computers
8 inch laptops are not yet available on the current computer market. The closest thing to 8 inch laptop computers available today would be the 7 inch Everex Cloudbook, the 7 or 8.9 inch Asus Eee PC, and the 8.9 inch HP Mini-Note. Since lightweight mini PCs are becoming more popular, it wouldn't be surprising to see 8 inch laptops become a reality in the near future. For now though let's take a look at the mini laptop offerings from Everex, Asus, and HP:
Asus Eee PC - Just one inch smaller or wider than 8 inch laptop computers, the Eee PC comes in a variety of 7 and 8.9 inch configurations. Prices range from $299 to about $399 on the smallest Asus Eee mini PCs with the $299 model typically including an Intel Mobile CPU, 512 MB DDR2 system memory, 2 GB solid state hard disk capacity, 802.11b/g wireless LAN, and Linux operating system. $399 models are basically the same but come with 4 GB solid state capacity and the option of getting Windows XP Home instead of the

HP Mini-Note - Similar to the largest Asus Eee PC, the HP Mini-Note is just one inch wider than 8 inch laptops. The Mini-Note starts at about $599 and includes a 1.2 GHz Via C7-M processor, 1 GB DDR2 system memory, 120 GB hard drive capacity, 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN, and a Linux-based or Windows Vista operating system.
Portable computers that are closest in size to 8 inch laptops are great for frequent travelers or those who just want a low-priced laptop that can easily handle basic computer functions such as browsing online wirelessly and safely, receiving and sending email, basic productivity work, and downloading or saving a reasonable amount of files. For storing larger files be sure to consider the HP Mini-Note which comes with much more capacity than the Cloudbook or Eee PC.
